Top 10 YouTubers Who Rarely Show Their Faces

Like superheroes who hide their alter-egos, some YouTubers choose to conceal their identity. Hello, and welcome to TopX, where we count down the very best that YouTube has to offer! Today, we’ll be taking a look at the top 10 YouTubers who rarely show their faces.

For this list, we’ve gathered together the best YouTube channels where the host’s identity remains a closely guarded secret. In the case of some entrants, we’ve literally never seen their face; in others, it’s a very rare occurrence.

#10: penguinz0
youtube.com/penguinz0

Our first faceless wonder also goes by the name ‘Cr1TiKaL’, [pronounced critical] and is considered one of the funniest YouTube commentators on the Internet. The channel, which is built on gaming videos including tutorials and gameplay clips, is known for the host’s slightly absurd sense of humor and his severely deep, monotone voice. Sarcasm might be “lowest form of wit,” but this guy turns it into an art from, with a hearty helping of self-deprecation to boot! He has the uncanny ability to make hard-to-play games hilarious to watch, which keeps us totally captivated, even if he remains unidentified.

#9: Todd in the Shadows
youtube.com/carlos10009

Music criticism simply doesn’t get more critical than with our next reviewer who, as his name suggests, lives in the shadows to preserve his mystery. Todd’s hooded, silhouetted, piano playing intros are instantly recognisable, and his deconstructions of popular music leave no sarcastic stone unturned. He does occasionally like the music he’s reviewing, but more often than not, makes a very convincing case for it being the worst thing ever written. They may say that “no publicity is bad publicity,” but if your song appears on Todd’s show, then you best brace yourself quickly.

#8: Ownage Pranks
youtube.com/OwnagePranks

Prank phone calls are a rite of passage and the vast majority of us have either pranked or been pranked, or both, at some point in our lives. Russell, the mysterious man behind the mic on Ownage Pranks, takes things to another level. This guy has a whole roster of crazy characters intent on terrorising unsuspecting victims via telephone. He gets everyone, from restaurant owners to gym managers, to boyfriends convinced that theirgirlfriends have fooled around. No one is safe, and we’re all on re-dial. Answer the phone at your peril!

#7: AsKaGangsta
youtube.com/AsKaGangsta

Up next, we have another masked prankster, except unlike the phone-loving Ownage Pranks, the majority of AsKaGangsta’s tricks play out over webcam. He started life as a general YouTube funny man, before he channelled his channel to video chat room sites, like Chat Roulette and Omegle. In his own words, he’s been “banned for the most part” from Chat Roulette, but thankfully he’s still allowed on Omegle. From pretending to be famous people to spoiling sexy dances to bringing in his buddies for a little Russian roulette, if there’s a prank to be had, then this cryptic guy will pull it.

#6: CGP Grey
youtube.com/greymatter

Knowledge hunters and info-maniacs unite! You may not see CGP Grey’s face, but you do get a comprehensive look at the inside of his mind - because this guy is really clever, and he’s dead set on making us really clever, too. These awesomely educational videos vary in length, style and subject, but every lesson is tackled with the same unerring effort to make sure we learn everything there is to know about a given topic. It’s so stacked full of stats and trivia, you get the feeling that if you just skipped school and watched this all day, you’d probably learn more…not that we’re suggesting you do that!

#5: Planet Dolan
youtube.com/DDTop20

Look away now if you’re squeamish, easily disturbed or quickly freaked out. Like the others on this list, Danger Dolan doesn’t appear on camera, but remains the channel’s main narrator. Planet Dolan is one of the Internet’s greatest (and grossest) collections of weird, wacky, sometimes really rather gut-churning videos. We all love a good countdown, but some of the subject matter on this channel really needs to be seen to be believed. On top of standard mysteries, conspiracies and scientific oddities, there are creepy inventions, strange children and enough nightmare material to see you through the next few decades. It’s surprisingly difficult to stop watching stuff that makes you either cringe or cry!

#4: TheRPGMinx
youtube.com/TheRPGMinx

Minx, queen of Gmod really makes the most of today’s running theme, and is one of the most enigmatic YouTubers to make our countdown. Not only have we never seen her face – a choice she makes to protect her privacy – but she doesn’t let on too much about her life in general either. We do know she’s from the UK, and that she’s married to KrismPro – also of YouTube fame. With Krism and various other friends, Minx invites us into her Gmod world, for gaming, adventures, some thought-provoking conversation, as well as a whole lot of laughs.

#3: HowToBasic
youtube.com/HowToBasic

With most of these channels, there’s at least a small need to put a face to the name, but with HowToBasic, we’re fine not knowing what the host looks like! If this unique brand of hard-core humour was suddenly given recognisable features, it would likely water down what can only be described as “absolute chaos.” If you end up on this channel looking for genuine tutorial videos, then you’ll be questioning your sanity after watching just one clip. It’s the grossest, messiest, eggiest bunch of viral fake how-to videos you’re ever likely to see. And once you have seen them, you can never un-see. The messed up mental images are yours for life!

#2: H20Delirious
youtube.com/H2ODelirious

As one of the most subscribed faceless YouTubers to feature today, H20Delirious has fan base of over 7 million subs. This Let’s Play channel is loaded with gaming material, including more Gmod, as well as Black Ops and GTA V. Mr. Delirious is well known for his crazy, hyped up gaming style in which anything and everything either scares the living daylights out of him, or leaves him rolling around laughing like there’s no tomorrow. In one of his most popular videos, he fakes a face reveal, but in real life there’s been no such event. Just who is the man behind this mayhem? We may never know.

#1: Cryaotic
youtube.com/ChaoticMonki

Ladies and gentlemen, here it is… It’s time to reveal today’s unrevealable winner. “Video games. Stories. That’s roughly what goes on here.” That’s Cryaotic’s channel in his own short, sweet words. And although that description is exactly right, it just doesn’t do things justice. Cry takes on all aspects of gaming – though mostly indie and horror – talking us through events with his trademark likability. Who needs to be recognisable, when you have a voice as apparently effective, calming and craze-worthy as this one? Cryaotic is so loved he’s even got himself a fandom, made up of the brilliantly named “CryBabies.” But no tears will be shed atop this podium–if only because we’ll never see the eyes that shed them anyway
