Top 10 YouTube Travellers

Hello, and welcome to TopX, where we count down the very best that YouTube has to offer. Today we’re taking you all around the world and you don’t even have to leave home, as we look at our picks for the top 10 YouTube travellers!

For this list, we’ve grouped together the very best YouTube travel vloggers out there. These are the people that move around the world, and record themselves doing it for our viewing pleasure – all while giving us a whole lot of wanderlust.

#10: JacksGap
youtube.com/JacksGap

We’re starting with the most-subscribed channel to make our countdown. JacksGap is all about twin brothers travelling the world, and telling us about it. Jack set off on his gap “year” back in July 2011, and his twin brother Finn quickly joined in on the fun. From humble beginnings, their video-blog adventure has taken them all over the planet, and has gotten them involved in all sorts of shenanigans – 2013’s “Rickshaw Run” in India being a highlight. Their light-hearted approach to travel is enough to inspire anyone to get out and see the world for themselves.

#9: Kristen Sarah
youtube.com/hopscotchtheglobe

This self-described “out-of-the-box” channel provides an alternative, fresh perspective on world travel, and gives us all a glimpse of stuff you don’t see in the travel guides. Kristen’s videos cover planning for a trip, packing the right things, coping with the language barrier, and eating like the locals. There are a lot of food related uploads here, inspired by a lot of different cuisines. One of the best things about Kristen, though, is that her videos are relevant to all types of travellers – from the summer holidaymaker, to the seasoned round-the-world wanderer.

#8: Hey Nadine
youtube.com/nayders07

In terms of scope, few channels can match Hey Nadine. This girl’s been everywhere, and even if she hasn’t been there, she’s got loads of useful stuff to share, and general tips to pass on. Channel host Nadine Sykora brings an infectiously positive attitude to the proceedings, which is very easy to buy into. For those who love to eat, she has “eat in a day” videos where she tries various international cuisines. Plus, her channel is beautifully set up, with continent-specific playlists, travel advice and how-to guides, making it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for.

#7: High On Life
youtube.com/sundayfundayz

Right from the beginning, from their ultra-inspiring channel trailer, it’s clear that these guys know how to make the most out of life. Running with the tagline “If you can, you should,” High on Life is a group of friends parachuting, bungee jumping, and white water rafting their way to happiness. They live for the journey, and they’re taking their audience along for the ride. You can expect weekly uploads from this channel – with each video including footage from their latest trip, along with personal commentary from the guys.

#6: Mr Ben Brown
youtube.com/benbrown100

A channel that promises daily positive vibes, Mr Ben Brown isn’t solely about travel, but travel is a major part of his product. Ben’s primarily an athlete, and a filmmaker. And his channel’s so infectiously happy it can actually encourage its viewer out of a bad mood. There’s plenty of point-of-view camera work here, as we follow Ben around global cities and across spectacular landscapes, always just a little bit jealous that we’re not exploring them for ourselves. Ben Brown uploads daily, so you’ll get a mix of videos ranging from personal vlogs about his passions, to simply captivating documents of his worldwide adventures.

#5: soniastravels
youtube.com/soniastravels

Sonia believes that “there’s something wrong with the way we travel,” and she’s aiming to fix it. Her channel is essentially a collection of life hacks, but almost all of her ideas are travel-orientated. From how to maximize your carry-on luggage, to how to survive long-haul journeys, to how not to look like a tourist when you’re being a tourist; Sonia’s seen it all, done it all, and bought all the proverbial t-shirts; now she’s passing on her wisdom via YouTube. Her travel tips series is so well organized, that you’d be a fool not to flick through before your next departure.

#4: devinsupertramp
youtube.com/devinsupertramp

Another YouTuber for whom travel isn’t a primary focus– but gets lots of it done anyway¬– devinsupertramp is the channel for you if you like to mix your holidays with a little high-octane fun and adventure. With a higher production level than many of today’s featured channels, this guy pops up all over the globe, pulling crazy stunts in beautiful surroundings. Rather than offer typical travel tips, this channel is full of visually impactful videos that will inspire an epic amount of wanderlust. And with a new video coming out every week – you’ll definitely need to check out this channel on the regular.

#3: vagabrothers
youtube.com/vagabrothers

The Vagabrothers are Marko and Alex, two self-described vagabonds who are, you guessed it, also brothers! They take a very professional approach to what they do and offer a quality viewing experience, the like of which you might usually associate with a documentary. With playlists titled “Cultural Discovery,” “Urban Exploration,” and “World Festivals,” this well-organized channel gives you a glimpse of life around the world that is easy to navigate and even more entertaining to watch. Fun and informative in equal measure, they’ve been going since January 2014, and there’s no sign that they’ll be stopping anytime soon.

#2: alanxelmundo
youtube.com/alanxelmundo

The only non-English channel on our list, alanxelmundo is a Spanish vlogger whose videos are a sort of stylistic blend of the various channels we’ve already seen. There are some hand-held, amateur-style shots here, but they’re set against some more professional angles, which are expertly edited together. Alanxelmundo boasts over a quarter of a million subscribers, with a monthly view rate well over the 2 million mark. And those figures will only rise further with more videos like these.

#1: FunForLouis
youtube.com/FunForLouis

This guy is sitting in the top spot mostly because of his huge popularity and sheer dedication to travel. In 2012, Louis Cole set off on a vlogging adventure, which has since taken him all over the world once, twice and probably thrice over. The seasoned road-tripper has gradually fashioned himself into a kind of lifestyle guru, and has gotten himself friends in all four corners of the globe. He posts videos every day, whether they are travel tips, his personal vlogs, beautiful landscapes or just shenanigans, funforlouis’s down-to-earth approach has earned him YouTube fame, respect and a victory today.
