#10: “Black Sails” (2014-17)

A prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 novel “Treasure Island” should be a relatively wholesome affair, right? You’d think so, but you’d be wrong. This show is all about rum, piracy, and sex. It’s about infamous and feared pirate Captain Flint and his exploits on the high seas. When they’re not robbing ships, the characters spend their free time stripping down and poking each other’s… private parts. Though you may think the pirate’s life is for you, there’s still the scurvy, deplorable hygiene and short lifespan to consider. Maybe just stick with watching the series.

#9: “Orange is the New Black” (2013-)

Life in prison can be brutal and downright traumatizing, but, in this prison at least, it can also apparently be sexy and naked. “Orange” is about Piper Chapman, who is convicted of an old crime and sentenced to prison. In this women’s penitentiary, there are all the shower scenes you’d expect from a show about jail. The nudity doesn’t always conform to conventional ideas of tv beauty however, and you should be prepared for all body types. Thankfully, in addition to its frank presentation of nudity, both sexy and humorous, “Orange is the New Black” delivers a gripping story about a captivating group of characters.

#8: “Westworld” (2016-)

Top 10 Best Westworld Moments

Nothing says wild west like brothels and prostitutes. In “Westworld,” tourists visit an immersive theme park made out to be like an old western town and its surroundings. Except instead of being filled with grimy, smelly people, it’s populated by sexy robots whose purpose is to show you a good time in a wide variety of ways. These “hosts” exist to serve as guides, friends, accomplices, victims, and willing sexual partners to the guests. Though survival might’ve been the top priority in the real old west, in this massive adult playground, hedonism reigns. We hope that human/robot orgies don’t make you uncomfortable, because this HBO series delivers a real eye-full.

#7: “Masters of Sex” (2013-16)

How could a show following two sex scientists have so much nudity in it? Shocking! This drama is about pioneers in the science of human sexuality. And, as you might expect, there are plenty of scenes with nudity in them. As the old saying goes… you can’t study boobs and dongs without looking at boobs and dongs. It’s okay though; it’s for science. This series is no simple peep show however, it’s a great watch that gives viewers a up close and personal look into an interesting, if conservative, era of history. Suffice it to say… there’s nothing conservative about this series.

#6: “Shameless” (2011-)

Top 10 Most Shameless TV Product Placements

There have been plenty of shows in the history of television exploring family dynamics, but few of them feature as much nudity as this particularly revealing entry. Based on a British series by the same name and starring the always excellent William H. Macy, the show follows the Gallagher family as they navigate their way through our strange and seemingly often-naked world. The show depicts sexuality with a certain frank realism. Sometimes it’s sexy, other times it’s playful, and more often than we would like, it’s just downright awkward. Whether it’s making you laugh or cringe, “Shameless” consistently delivers - both in terms of quality and skin.

#5: “True Blood” (2008-14)

It wouldn’t be much of a vampire story without all the hot bods, bare skin and oozing sensuality, now would it? This HBO series focuses on outsider waitress Sookie Stackhouse and her introduction to the complicated world of vampires - who have recently come out of hiding. As you’d expect, there’s lots of sex, and with lots of sex comes some quality nude scenes. Can’t vampires just keep their clothes on? Why feed into the stereotype? Maybe because it’s super sexy and, quite frankly, no one wants to see a bunch of fully-clothed vampires politely shaking hands and pecking each other on the cheek.

#4: “Californication” ( 2007-14)

This show is about a novelist. Not exactly a sexy start, but just you wait. It isn’t called Californication for nothing. You see, in addition to writer’s block and alcoholism, this novelist also just so happens to be dealing with sex addiction, and that’s where his life story gets really interesting. We’re pretty sure the producers of this show sat down and asked themselves, “what premise would allow us to show the most skin?” And thus, “Californication” was born. There are plenty of nude scenes featuring Duchovny and his co-stars. If you like your nuditity mixed with booze and cigarettes, this is the show for you.

#3: “Girls” (2012-17)

Somewhat of a spiritual successor to “Sex in the City”, “Girls” follows an aspiring writer and her friends as they try to make it in New York city. It’s written by and stars Lena Dunham, a creator who has proven time and time again that she’s willing to bare all in the name of self-expression. Though “Sex and the City” was notable in its time for its bold depictions of sex onscreen, the nudity and sexual encounters seen in “Girls” make it look tame by comparison. The series shies away from idealising either the human body or sex, and that is very refreshing. Though some of the more controversial scenes will surely make you cringe… it won’t be for a lack of nudity.

#2: “Spartacus” (2010-13)

Is there a time period that’s more debaucherously naughty than that of the Roman Empire? No, seriously, we want to know because if there is, we’d love to learn about it. “Spartacus” follows the legendary story of a slave turned gladiator turned freedom fighter. Whether it’s on the battlefield or off of it, this cast of characters seemingly have a strong aversion to clothing. It’s an undeniably sexy series, one that celebrates the idea that all’s fair in love and war. Suffice it to say… we’re glad this era in human history didn’t have a lot of pants. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions: “Queer as Folk” (2000-05) “Entourage” (2004-11)

#1: “Game of Thrones” (2011- )

Top 10 Shows That Could Be the Next Game of Thrones

When a television show hires actors from the porn industry, you know there’s going to be a lot of nude scenes. This fantasy series, based on the books by George R.R. Martin, shows some serious skin. We’re talking about full frontal male nudity and boobs for miles. Though the ice zombies, dragons and epic setpieces might be what has viewers hooked, it’s all this explicit content that really keeps people talking. From its very first season, the series has delivered some of the most bold nudity seen on tv, and over the seasons, it hasn’t exactly lost its love for showing skin in compromising positions.
