Top 10 Biggest Changes in Dragon Ball Super: Broly

Goku has a real knack for fashionably late arrivals. Though, even that’s not as rude as completely ignoring the houseguests. To be fair, they were there to blow up the world, so Goku had a good reason for the silent treatment. Instead of fighting, he put his one-track mind to work giving Krillin and Gohan some much-needed Senzu beans. Nappa wasn’t too pleased about it, but once Goku was finally ready, the bald Saiyan quickly learned he was better off being overlooked. A quick Kaio-ken and a broken back later, all Nappa did was get a little dust on Goku’s gi.

The Saiyan Prince was in a particularly sour mood before he ever stepped foot in the ring. The fact his opponent shared a face with his nemesis, Freiza, further ensured that this was going to end with some serious Saiyan retribution. But, instead of taking the traditional route, Vegeta skipped the power-creeping preamble and decided to K.O. Frost with a single, glorious blow. It’s hard to feel too bad for the villainous Frieza knockoff, especially since Vegeta doesn’t always get to look this cool. It just goes to show that, even between Universes, Saiyans sure know how to hold a grudge.

#8: Buutenks Bites Back

0

It’s a good thing Goku’s son didn’t have a whole lot of Saiyan pride to begin with, else he may not have ever come back from this. To be fair, Gohan had good reason to stroll up to his fight with Super Buu a bit overconfident. But, after the pink villain absorbed Gotenks and Piccolo, that same cockiness majorly backfired with one of the most one-sided thrashings in all of “Dragon Ball.” Buu wrecked Gohan’s body and his mind, and did it all with style, too. Clearly, he wasn’t just in it to win. After all, nearly finishing Gohan with his younger brother’s techniques is just adding insult to injury.

Top 10 Most Terrifying Dragon Ball Moments

Universe 11’s mustache’d Pride Trooper was a menace even before he decided to become a God. Once he did, the only thing 17 and Frieza could do was run and pray to Shenron that Top didn’t find them. With his invincible coating of Hakai, nothing the Z-fighters threw at him left so much as a scuff mark. At a certain point, it’s almost pitiful to watch. Unfortunately, Frieza’s never been one to go down quietly, and that came back to bite him when Top nearly crushed his skull like a grape. If that was any indication, the no-killing rule may have been the only thing saving Universe 7 from Top’s wrath.

The biggest shame of this whole scene is that, even well into “Z,” Earth hadn’t realized that it was best to leave the cosmic threats to Goku and company. So, in a useless and futile last effort, the royal military lined up tanks, battalions, and missiles to deliver one hell of a light show. Except, to Perfect Cell, that’s all it was. And, he made cleanup rather easy by exterminating them all with a single flick of his wrist. The cybernetic foe had already marked the planet for destruction, so really, the whole operation only succeeded in giving him a quick stretch before the Cell Games began.

#5: Gogeta Roars

On principle alone, the return of Goku and Vegeta’s fan-favorite fusion was bound to cause some serious fireworks. Throw in Super Saiyan 4, and it’s obvious why Omega Shenron didn’t stand a chance. Case in point, it only took Gogeta one look to win, and that’s no exaggeration. Just his stare was enough to send the Shadow Dragon flying. So, as the most powerful being the franchise had seen so far, the fusion decided to have a bit of fun. It’s practically a party, complete with confetti and lots of laughing. Though, Omega Shenron probably saw it differently, especially after Gogeta repurposed his attacks as a back massage.

Top 10 Slice of Life Anime

After cheating death and gaining some new mechanical enhancements, Frieza was probably feeling pretty good about his invasion of Earth. At least, until Trunks appeared, and showed that Goku wasn’t the only one who could go gold. But, even at a time where Super Saiyan was the end-all-be-all, the transformation isn’t even the most iconic part of this scene. No, that belongs to Trunks turning one of “Dragon Ball’s” most famous villains into sushi. No exploding planets or dramatic monologues necessary. The lack of fanfare pretty much says it all. Plus, Trunks giving his sword to King Cold only to kill him, too, is pretty much the ultimate mic drop.

#3: Candy Crush

0

The very first time Goku and Vegeta put on the Potara Earrings, you could say it inflated both their power level and their egos. The resulting fusion easily deflected Super Buu’s attacks, but couldn’t just leave it at that. No, he decided to rub it in with some serious smack-talk. And the worst part is that Vegito hadn’t even powered up yet. Once he does, Super Buu pretty much becomes a super punching bag, and that’s putting it nicely. Though, even all that pales in comparison to the humiliation of losing to Vegito after he’s turned into candy. Truly, there’s no coming back from a defeat at the hands of a glorified jawbreaker.

#2: Just a Finger

Top 20 Greatest Dragon Ball Attacks

The two Saiyan stars of this franchise have gone up against androids, demons, and even literal Gods. But, they finally met their match in the form of Whis. Or, more precisely, his finger, since that was all it took to block Goku and Vegeta’s combined assault. Though, given how much the duo struggled to land a hit, period, the fact they made the Angel block at all is a victory. At least, assuming he didn’t stop their blow just to show off. Either way, it was a humbling reminder that Whis was still in a completely different league from the Saiyans. Hey, maybe one day they’ll get him to use his whole hand in a fight!

With the entire cosmos at stake, the multiversal “Tournament of Power” pushed its competitors to their absolute limits. Well, except for Jiren. After he high-fived Ultra Instinct into oblivion, he very loudly claimed that no one else in the entire multiverse was worth his time. So, in the midst of a battle to decide the fate of reality, he sat down and meditated. Talk about a vote of confidence. In his defense, he was proven right when no one could even pierce his unconscious aura - let alone wake him. Apparently, for Jiren, the best the multiverse had to offer was a real snoozefest in more ways than one.
