Top 10 Naruto Transformations

Welcome to WatchMojo and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 “Naruto” transformations.

For this list, we’ll be looking at the best special forms demonstrated by characters in “Naruto” anime franchise.

If there’s a “Naruto” transformation you’re angry didn’t make our list, don’t let the demon chakra inside consume you with hate, tell us in the comments!

#10: Kabuto’s Sage Mode

Kabuto Yakushi may not have the flashiest transformation - after all, he’s already done a lot of legwork making himself look like a snake. But his use of Sage chakra takes that look to draconic new heights. Along with horns and some markings around his eyes, Kabuto’s sage abilities give him enough power to take on the Uchiha brothers, Sasuke and Itachi, simultaneously! His strength is heightened, he’s immune to most genjutsu, and he can even turn his environment into weapons without hand signs. Honestly, if it weren’t for Itachi’s broken Izanami technique, Kabuto’s sage mode could probably have taken both brothers down.

#9: Killer B’s 8-Tails Transformation

Killer B is the jinchūriki of the 8-Tailed Beast, Gyūki. As such, like other jinchūriki, he can draw on the Tailed Beast’s chakra. However, Killer B’s unfettered charisma is so great that he was able to befriend Gyūki and as such can fully transform into the huge, ox/octopus hybrid creature. B’s complete transformation gives him tremendous power in battle, and lets him fire off the massively destructive technique, the Tailed Beast Ball, which is akin to a small nuclear explosion. While it’s not as flashy or well-designed as some other transformations, Killer B is never someone to be ignored.

#8: Naruto’s Toad Sage Mode

Naruto Uzumaki may be the Leaf Village’s most knuckleheaded ninja, but he’s still clever enough to master sage chakra. The biggest visual change is to the title character’s eyes, which gain orange markings around them and turn yellow, with a horizontal pupil - like a toad. However, Naruto’s access to natural energy powers up not only his physical attacks, but also his sensing abilities and jutsus - in other words, Rasengan. The form does have a pretty severe limit at first, requiring meditating Shadow Clones to recharge, though he later overcomes this weakness. It’s a subdued transformation, but Naruto’s effort in achieving it and its memorable debut help put it on our list.

#7: 10-Tails Jinchūriki Obito

The 10-Tails is a combination of all the other Tailed Beasts. However, Obito Uchiha is a bit hasty during the final war and absorbs the incomplete 10-Tails. The somewhat monstrous form he takes may not be symmetrical, but it’s still quite powerful. While he loses his intangibility, in exchange, Obito is nearly impervious to damage, with the exception of sage jutsu. He also gets those handy, malleable black orbs, plus the ability to create chakra trees. In this form, Obito is able to overmatch most of the remaining allied Shinobi army. It’s no match for Naruto’s talk no jutsu though.

#6: Kurama Mode

Naruto has many transformations using the chakra of the 9-Tailed Fox, Kurama. But arguably his most stable and long lasting is Kurama mode. By fully cooperating with the chakra beast inside him, Naruto manifests a badass yellow chakra cloak. In addition to creating chakra arms like all his previous forms, Naruto is also able to fully manifest Kurama’s appearance, albeit in chakra form, as well as lend his chakra to others temporarily, giving them a significant power boost. It’s Naruto’s go-to transformation, and it’s easily one of his coolest, though not quite his most powerful.

#5: Might Guy Opens the Eighth Gate

Might Guy isn’t just really, really skilled at taijutsu. He also possesses the ability to vastly increase his physical power by releasing the 8 inner chakra gates within his body. Opening the final gate grants Guy incredible strength, though at great cost. Along with turning his hair and aura red, Guy’s limbs can move fast enough to create shockwaves to attack or propel him through the air. He even distorts space around him in his final attack, Night Guy. The drawbacks of this transformation are severe though, since Guy breaks his own bones and is in extreme pain throughout. If not for some timely intervention, it would’ve killed him too. But if it weren’t so risky, it wouldn’t have been so awesome.

#4: 6 Paths Sage Mode

So named because it was granted to Naruto by the Sage of Six Paths, this form may have the familiar yellow cloak and markings similar to Naruto’s Kurama mode, but its power set is quite different. His strength is greater, sure, and his jutsus are all powered up, but he also gains better utility powers, like being able to sense Madara Uchiha’s limbo shadows, as well as the ability to heal Guy back from the brink of death. It’s in this form that Naruto faces both Madara and Kaguya, the two final antagonists of the original story. Not too shabby.

#3: Madara’s 10-Tails Jinchūriki Form

Speaking of Madara, Mr. Uchiha himself also absorbs the 10-Tails to become its Jinchūriki. Like Obito’s, Madara’s hair turns white as does his skin. What this transformation lacks in melanin, it certainly makes up for in power - and swag! Check out that coat! Along with all his Rinnegan abilities, Madara can fly, create (mostly) invisible doppelgangers, and his regenerative abilities let him survive powerful attacks that should kill anyone. He’s also immune to ninjutsu. There are probably more broken abilities we’re forgetting, but the point is that Madara is downright overpowered, and he looks good doing it.

#2: Sasuke’s Cursed Seal Transformations

While quite possibly the weakest forms on this list, Sasuke’s Cursed Seal transformations are some of the franchise’s most iconic. After being marked with a cursed seal by Orochimaru, Sasuke is able to draw on the snake man’s chakra, gaining enhanced strength and speed in the process. The initial stage covers Sasuke’s body in black marks, but the second form has him resembling a gray-skinned bat creature - only the wings look like hands. Sure, it’s weird, but Sasuke uses these forms to great effect while he has them, rivaling Naruto in strength, at least at the time.

#1: Baryon Mode

Baryon Mode is Naruto’s final 9-Tails transformation, in more ways than one. While less bestial than some of his others, Baryon Mode still makes Naruto look more fox-like, gaining ear-like protrusions on his head and gaining regal chakra tails. This transformation, in addition to granting Naruto unprecedented chakra output, speed, and strength, also drains the lifeforce of whomever he strikes. Unfortunately, it also kills the user - or at least, Kurama himself. Baryon Mode could only be used once, but its striking look and heartbreaking cost help make it the most memorable “Naruto” transformation of all.
