Top 10 Adult Jokes in Disney Channel Shows You Definitely Missed

Welcome to MsMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Adult Jokes in Disney Channel Shows You Definitely Missed.

For this list, we’ll be looking at the jokes that hit a bit differently when you grow up.

Did you catch any of these as kids? Tell us in the comments!

#10: Man Overboard
“Shake It Up” (2010-13)

After Cece freezes up during her initial audition for Shake It Up Chicago, she begins to question herself. When Rocky tries to comfort her, Cece tells her other embarrassing stories in her life, specifically when she fell into a lake and her top came off. While children may have thought Rocky was just being a good friend by saying no one even knew she was a girl, the rest of us have a totally different reading of that scene. Since this was the pilot and most watched episode of the show, we wonder how many parents hesitated before letting their kids watch another one.

#9: The Talk
“Girl Meets World” (2014-17)

Having your dad as a teacher can be tough, especially when trying to develop romantic relationships. Cory was walking the halls, admiring young love until he saw his daughter with a boy. He goes into a full dad panic, taking her into another room to give her the talk. While this is supposed to be a private moment between parent and child, the classroom is full of students. Maya catches onto her best friend’s situation and makes it worse. It helps that the actresses are best friends in real life, and their ability to react to the situation naturally is evident. While Cory keeps it PG, Maya’s question left a lot of room for elaboration.

#8: Showtime
“That’s So Raven” (2003-07)

While it’s great to share things with your friends, not everything has to be. Raven has a vision that her friends Chelsea and Eddie are about to kiss and feels hurt that they didn’t tell her. When she confronts them, the situation goes south quickly. With Raven missing some key details about the situation, she mistakes the whole conversation as her mind is very much in the gutter. It’s not until she speaks with her mother that she finally understands the whole truth of the matter and tries to clear it up with her friends. Hilarious scenes like this show why it was one of the only Disney channel shows to reach 100 episodes.

#7: Late Night Browsing
“Gravity Falls” (2012-16)

Twins Dipper and Mabel Pines might stick together through thick and thin, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for some ribbing now and then. Creator Alex Hirsch wanted their relationship to feel natural, basing the twins on himself and his twin sister. As they descend into a bunker, Mabel is presented with a great opportunity to roast her brother and she jumps on it. Given Dipper’s age and curiosity, there’s no telling what his internet history consists of, and it’s left up to the audience to fill in that uncomfortable detail.

#6: Luck of the Irish
“The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” (2005-08)

Carey is no stranger to getting hit on, which can lead to some interesting jokes. When the boys find part time jobs at a local grocery store, their boss Wayne sees them arguing with a woman and comes over to check it out. Discovering that she’s their mom, he takes a liking to her and decides to try his luck. His initial step in is smooth, but he then loses points for a pick up line that’s both cheesy and way too forward. Carey expertly deflects him with a smile and goes on with her day.

#5: R-Rated Comic Book
“Wizards of Waverly Place” (2007-12)

When Alex gets the chance to draw for Justin’s favorite comic book, she thinks of an idea that might be a bit too old for its target audience. It seems to be full of euphemisms and paints a variety of different visuals. As a story centered around a man with a large rocket admired by girl pirates, it sounds like something you’d see late at night on CineMax. While Wizards of Waverly Place may have won multiple Emmys for Outstanding Children's Program, certain moments like these were very much for adults.

#4: Phrasing!
“Kim Possible” (2002-07)

Usually when a kid’s show includes an adult joke, it’s either lowkey or an innuendo. In this case, not only was it blatant, but the characters drew attention to it. When hunting down Frugal Lucre, Kim has an interesting demand for him. Ron immediately makes notice of it and urges her to put it a little differently. This show was ahead of its time, as the writers were conscious of how the main characters’ roles challenged gender stereotypes - and that seemed to rub off on their jokes, as this one was geared towards a more mature audience.

#3: Sweating Buckets
“Gravity Falls” (2012-16)

Dipper is no stranger to creepy teen behaviour, so when Grunkle Stan catches him spying on Mabel and her friends, he assumes the worst. However, a magic carpet swapped the personalities of the twins, putting Mabel in Dipper's body and vice versa. Mabel was actually trying to see what was going on with her friends, but Stan takes the opportunity to give the sibling he thinks is Dipper the talk. She’s shaken up by their conversation, as it seems like they covered a wide array of topics - and hopefully consent and voyeurism were some of them.

#2: Never Judge an Oil by it’s Label
“The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” (2005-08)

One of the best things about the Suite Life was that we got to grow up alongside the Sprouse twins, but perhaps the writers forgot how old their audience was at times. When Chef Paolo is explaining the ingredients in his dish, he says that he includes a variety of olive oils. While the difference between olive oils is in the types of olives used, Chef Paolo offers an interesting distinction between them. While this joke may have gone over the heads of the younger viewers, teenagers and parents caught this one for sure.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

A Bit Grabby, “Jessie” (2011-15)
Jessie Asks to Get Wined & Dined before Getting Physical

Date Night, “Good Luck Charlie” (2010-14)
Teddy Tells Her Parents to Have a Good Time, But to Be Safe

Stage Fright,“Shake It Up” (2010-13)
Imagining Everyone Naked Elicits the Opposite Reaction in Both Girls

#1: Monkey Business
“Dave the Barbarian” (2004-05)

When Fang’s hero Storm the Slayer chooses her pet dragon as his next heroic conquest, he gets sidetracked by a new activity. Just as he’s going on a rampage, he gets distracted playing with … a monkey. It’s the combination of his response and his facial expression, mainly the raised eyebrows, that makes this not safe for children. These types of jokes seem to have been the writers’ style, as they were moved from this show to “Brandy & Mr. Whiskers”, which also had its fair share of adult jokes.
