VOICE OVER: Aaron Brown WRITTEN BY: Caitlin Johnson
Is any Assassin's Creed weapon that can outdo the Apple of Eden? For this video, we're looking at the more interesting and iconic weapons rather than the most powerful. Our list includes the Bow of Light “Assassin's Creed Origins” (2017), The Eagle “Assassin's Creed Unity” (2014), Mjolnir “Assassin's Creed Valhalla” (2020), World's Greatest Cane-Sword “Assassin's Creed Syndicate” (2015), Minotaur's Labrys “Assassin's Creed Odyssey” (2018) and more!

The Best Weapons in Assassin’s Creed Games

Welcome to MojoPlays! Today, we’re looking at the best weapons in “Assassin’s Creed” games. Is anything stronger than the Apple of Eden?

For this list, we’re looking at the more interesting and iconic weapons rather than the most powerful.

Bow of Light

“Assassin’s Creed Origins” (2017)

You can’t unlock this weapon to use in the rest of the game, unfortunately, but it’s still a whole lot of fun in the one level in which it’s Bayek’s only way to defend himself. During a hallucination, Bayek sees a representation of Apep, a chaos deity in Egyptian mythology that appears as a gigantic, deadly snake. In myth, Ra, the sun god, fights Apep each night, and as long as Ra defeats Apep, the sun will rise the following day. Bayek ends up imbued with the power of Ra and is given this bow of light as well as infinite, golden arrows. There is a “Bow of Ra” you can also unlock in the regular game, too, which will set enemies on fire.

The Eagle

“Assassin’s Creed Unity” (2014)

Because of its performance issues, Ubisoft gave away “Unity’s” “Dead Kings” DLC to everybody who owned the game for free. As well as introducing a new area, Saint-Denis, it also added the guillotine guns, unique weapons that combine an axe with a grenade launcher. The guillotine guns only appear in this DLC, though you CAN take them back to the main game with you, and the most powerful of all is the Eagle. If you want to switch between devastating ranged attacks and brutal, heavy weapon takedowns, this is the weapon you need to get. It’s unfortunate that they’ve never reappeared.

Assassin Tomahawk

“Assassin’s Creed III” (2012)

Though “Valhalla’s” small, bearded axes are a little similar, traditional tomahawks only appear in “Assassin’s Creed III”. Originally a simple tool, tomahawks became a famous weapon used by Native Americans, and as such, Connor wields one. After completing his training, he’ll automatically unlock the Assassin Tomahawk, which has a blade resembling the Assassin logo. It may not be a rare weapon, nor is it the best tomahawk in the game, but it’s a reliable tool you can easily use for the entire game. It has a unique place within the lore as a symbol of Connor’s indigenous roots.

The Living One

“Assassin’s Creed Origins” (2017)

Sickle swords only really appear in “Origins”, as they’re a type of sword used frequently in Ancient Egypt thousands of years ago. This particular one is the best sickle-sword in the game, and an extremely fun weapon to wield because of its speed and appearance since it has a curved, black blade. Bayek acquires it after traveling to a part of the Egyptian afterlife and defeating a representation of Akhenaten, a pharaoh who ruled Egypt in the 14th century BC. Defeating the pharaoh is no mean feat, and you definitely deserve to wield this sword when you triumph – especially since you have to get the DLC to be given the opportunity.

Mjolnir

“Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” (2020)

As this is a famous weapon that belonged to a god, in “Assassin’s Creed”, it becomes a Piece of Eden. Mjolnir, of course, is the legendary hammer of Thor, an Isu like every other deity. It’s unlockable by Eivor only at the very end of the game, after you defeat all the Daughters of Lerion and unlock Thor’s armor. You’ll also have to journey all the way back to Norway to finally find it. This means that Mjolnir won’t get much use during the normal course of the game, as you might not get it until after you’ve beaten the whole story. But if you play the DLCs you’ll get plenty of time to wield and upgrade it.

World’s Greatest Cane-Sword

“Assassin’s Creed Syndicate” (2015)

This weapon may take the longest to unlock of any of them in “Syndicate”, because you’ve got to reach maximum loyalty with associate Robert Topping. The only way to do this is to win every single fight club and every carriage lap race, which can be tedious. But it’s all worth it to get your hands on this level 10 cane-sword. All the cane-swords are a lot of fun, and like the other “Syndicate” weapon types, they were never to be seen again in any subsequent releases. The concealed blades really did exist in Victorian Britain and give a very authentic feel to the brutal combat system.

Minotaur’s Labrys

“Assassin’s Creed Odyssey” (2018)

This huge, two-headed axe is the weapon used in combat by the legendary Minotaur, trapped for eternity in the mythical labyrinth beneath King Minos’ ancient palace on Crete. Kassandra ventures into the labyrinth to fight the Minotaur, which is actually an Isu experiment gone rogue. Upon defeating this somewhat easy, but exciting, boss, you’ll get the golden axe, which has some massive buffs including +50% critical hit damage. It's lumbering and slow, but worth taking the time to master, if you want your misthios to be as formidable as the Minoatur itself in combat.

Excalibur

“Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” (2020)

There are many worthy Swords of Eden in the franchise, all of them former weapons used by the Isu that, eventually, fall into the hands of mankind. But we’re going with Excalibur, the legendary sword once wielded by King Arthur, as our favorite Sword of Eden in the franchise. While the Sword in the Stone in literature isn’t always Excalibur itself, in “Valhalla”, that is the case, as Eivor must gather stone tablets to free the sword from the large stone monolith it’s stuck inside. This presumably makes them the rightful heir to the throne of Camelot, though Ubisoft hasn’t yet made an Arthurian DLC.

The Hidden Blade

“Assassin’s Creed” series (2007-)

One of the most iconic weapons in video game history, the humble, hidden blade shouldn’t be overlooked. Sure, it’s not a super-advanced piece of Isu technology, it didn’t belong to a mythical creature, and it doesn’t inflict any status effects, but it’ll get the job done nonetheless. In earlier games, primarily the Ezio trilogy, you can choose to use it in direct combat, and it’s just as effective as a sword and comes with its own array of brutal, execution animations. The hidden blade is so integral to the franchise that when it disappeared for a while, its return in “Valhalla” was widely celebrated.

The Apple of Eden

“Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood” (2010-)

Despite the Apple of Eden’s constant presence in the series as its primary McGuffin, we’ve only been able to wield it as a weapon in “Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood”. Ezio uses it to escape St Peter’s Basilica at the beginning, and again to hunt down Cesare once he reacquires it. He then seals it away, believing that no human should wield such power, hence why we rarely – if ever – see the Assassin Brotherhood use the Pieces of Eden for anything, beyond the many “Swords of Eden”. But in the brief scenes where Ezio has the Apple, he experiences just a fraction of its raw power, able to mind-control and then defeat legions of Borgia soldiers. But he loses health in the process, showing that even the most strong-willed Assassins aren’t immune to the charms and dangers of the Apples.
