Every Sasuke Fight Ranked (Naruto)

Welcome to WatchMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top 30 best Sasuke fights, as part of every “Naruto” battle ranked.

For this list, we’ll be going over the best fights involving Naruto’s rival, Sasuke Uchiha.

If there’s a Sasuke fight more absent from our list than he is from his family’s lives, remind us how to be better in the comments!

#30: Sasuke vs. Team Yamato

Sasuke’s reunion with his former teammates after 2 plus years is less than hospitable. When Naruto, Sakura, Sai, and Yamato invade Orochimaru’s hideout, Sasuke faces off against his former friends and countrymen. Although the battle is pretty one-sided and doesn’t last long, Sasuke’s vastly improved strength, and even frostier attitude, are on full display here. If not for Orochimaru, he might have killed them all!

#29: Sasuke vs. Isshiki

Isshiki Ōtsutsuki is one of Sasuke and Naruto’s most challenging opponents. While the two of them technically fight Isshiki near one another here, it’s not really a tag team…or even much of a fight. Despite being incredibly powerful by this point, Sasuke gets positively washed by Isshiki, who fills the Uchiha full of holes and repeatedly kicks him into the ground. That’s gotta’ be humbling.

#28: Sasuke vs. Chino

An oft-overlooked part of the “Naruto” story, this fight sees Sasuke go up against Chino, a young girl out for revenge against the Leaf. Chino’s scarlet eyes and vengeful attitude make for a nice parallel with Sasuke himself. While she’s no match for Sasuke, her blood dragon creations make for a flashy and entertaining fight.

#27: Sasuke vs. Itachi, Round 1

For half of his young life, Sasuke is consumed with the thought of revenge against his brother, Itachi, for killing the rest of their clan. When he first encounters Itachi, things don’t go well for the younger sibling. Itachi easily handles Sasuke, showing just how far the young avenger needs to climb. Plus, the image of Itachi choking Sasuke has become the stuff of memes.

#26: The Bell Test

Team 7’s first test sees them tasked with taking a pair of bells from Kakashi. Instead of working together, which is the point, they each try to do things solo. To be fair, Sasuke manages to put up more of a fight than Naruto or Sakura, showing that he’s fairly skilled for his age. Even so, Kakashi literally buries Sasuke. At least he’s better off than Naruto.

#25: Rooftop Clash w/ Naruto

Overcome with jealousy at Naruto’s growing strength, Sasuke challenges him to a fight on the roof of the hospital. There, the two exchange a series of blows, before using their strongest attacks on each other. Thankfully, Kakashi interrupts them. Still, the damage is done, and Sasuke’s desire for power is only stoked further. While it’s not long, this skirmish is a nice prelude of what’s to come.

#24: Sasuke, Naruto, Boruto, & Jiraiya vs. Urashiki

The Ōtsutsuki clan has many troublesome members. One of them, Urashiki, goes back in time to take Naruto’s chakra as a child. This leads to an unusual team-up between adult Sasuke, Boruto, child Naruto, and Jiraiya. Urashiki’s time manipulation powers lend the fight some strategy, and seeing Boruto team up with his dad is nice too. Sasuke’s highlight though is to finally use Kirin successfully.

#23: Sasuke vs. Yoroi

Infected by Orochimaru’s cursed seal, Sasuke is already at a disadvantage during this Chunin Exam match. But his opponent Yoroi, Orochimaru’s henchman, has an ability that threatens to make him rely on that dark power. The dead-eyed ninja can drain chakra and stamina, leaving Sasuke with quite the handicap. Fortunately, Sasuke resists the seal’s effects and uses some moves he learned from another opponent to win.

#22: Sasuke vs. Zaku

Speaking of Sasuke’s cursed seal, the first time he activates the mark occurs when Sakura and his fellow Leaf ninjas are attacked by a trio of Sound ninjas in the Forest of Death. Awakening from his slumber, Sasuke is wreathed in the vile chakra aura and proceeds to overpower one of the Sound ninja, Zaku. After easily out speeding his foe, Sasuke dislocates both his arms! Ouch!

#21: Sasuke vs. Rock Lee

After Sasuke is challenged by the goofy bowl cut ninja, Rock Lee, he’s confident of victory, even if Lee easily knocks out Naruto. He predicts it’ll take less than 5 minutes – and he’s right. He’s just wrong about the victor. Lee’s incredible speed proves too much for Sasuke, even with his Sharingan. For as much as Sasuke values his inherited power, it’s no match for Lee’s hard-fought training.

#20: Sasuke vs. Kinshiki

While investigating the Ōtsutsuki clan in another dimension, Sasuke encounters two of its members – Kinishiki and Momoshiki. Sasuke has a quick encounter with Kinshiki, engaging in some great hand-to-hand combat, and showing off his awesome teleportation swapping ability. However, realizing that fighting both pale men could prove troublesome, Sasuke opens a portal and ducks out. It’s too bad he was nerfed-…I mean…uh…”out of chakra…”

#19: Sasuke & Naruto vs. Orochimaru

In the Forest of Death, Sasuke and Team 7 are attacked by Orochimaru. The serpentine ninja proves overwhelming to the trio, but some words of encouragement/disparagement from Naruto push Sasuke to fight back. The close combat animation is fluid and well put together, and Sasuke uses several clever tricks that burn away Orochimaru’s disguise. Although he retreats, the snake literally and figuratively leaves his mark on Sasuke.

#18: Sasuke vs. the Kages

In order to reach Danzo, the interim Hokage, Sasuke attacks the Five Kage Summit. After battling a certain Kage, Sasuke comes into conflict with the rest of the ninja world’s leaders. Sasuke briefly fights Gaara before escaping to the meeting room. While Danzo retreats, Mei nearly kills Sasuke with her lava and acid powers. Onoki also almost vaporizes Sasuke, who only survives because he’s rescued by Tobi. Quite the close call!

#17: Sasuke & Naruto (& Shinobi Alliance) vs. Obito

While nearly every ninja in the Shinobi Alliance takes part in attacking Obito Uchiha, it’s Sasuke and Naruto who manage to finally bring him down. At first, both attack Obito separately. When this proves ineffective, they combine Sasuke’s Susanoo and Naruto’s Nine Tails transformation to create an even stronger form. With assistance from everyone else, the duo’s combo technique slices through Obito and frees the Tailed Beasts within him.

#16: Sasuke & Naruto vs. Haku

Haku’s ice mirrors let the masked rogue ninja move at high speed and keeps Sasuke and Naruto on their toes. In addition to having a cool set-piece, this fight is pivotal for both of them. The fight marks the first time Sasuke activates his Sharingan. It’s also a major bonding moment for these rivals, as Sasuke makes an apparent sacrifice to save Naruto. Their friendship truly begins here.

#15: Sasuke & Naruto vs. Madara

Madara Uchiha is a completely overpowered villain and one of the franchise’s main antagonists. In the final war arc of “Shippuden,” the Uchiha founder proves able to take on all comers. However, thanks to the intervention of the Sage of Six Paths, Naruto and Sasuke attain powers able to stand up to him. Sasuke gains his powerful Rinnegan, allowing him to swap places in space with people and objects, as well as see Madara’s shadow double. He also manages to cut Madara in half…for all the good it does. Sadly, Madara manages to enact his plan, despite Sasuke and Naruto’s efforts. It’s still an entertaining, high-level fight while it lasts. And at least Madara gets what he deserves, even if it isn’t at their hands.

#14: Sasuke & Naruto Vs. Zabuza

On Team 7’s first big mission, they encounter the rogue ninja Zabuza. After he imprisons Kakashi in a sphere of water, it’s up to Sasuke and Naruto to fight instead. Zabuza’s water clone proves more than a match for them in combat though. Thankfully, Naruto has a cunning plan. Sasuke throws multiple large shuriken at Zabuza. Although he catches one, he has to dodge the other. While this is still not enough to get him to let Kakashi go, the second shuriken transforms into Naruto, whose own thrown projectile leads to Kakashi being set free. It’s an iconic early moment of teamwork for Naruto and Sasuke as well as a cool fight.

#13: Sasuke vs. Orochimaru

Sasuke spends several years learning from Orochimaru. The creepy snake man is pretty clear that he wants to possess Sasuke for his own ends, but Sasuke eventually decides that he can’t learn anything else from him and ambushes his teacher. Orochimaru reveals his true, serpentine form and tries to consume and take Sasuke’s body for his own. However, Sasuke manages to turn the technique against Orochimaru and emerges victorious. While not as flashy as most of Sasuke’s fights, his defeat of Orochimaru marks an important step in Sasuke’s development. A “shedding of his skin,” if you will.

#12: Sasuke vs. Deidara

Sasuke isn’t the only one with a grudge against Itachi. Akatsuki member Deidara doesn’t care for him either, but instead of teaming up to take his brother down, Deidara decides to try to kill Sasuke. Deidara’s various clay explosives keep Sasuke on his toes, sometimes literally, but his various illusions and lightning attacks outwit and overpower Deidara. Not only does Sasuke manage to disregard the laws of “Pokemon” during this fight, (why is lightning good against earth?!) but he also manages to escape Deidara’s final explosive, pointblank jutsu through…cheating? Yeah, he totally cheated.

#11: Sasuke vs. Gaara

There’s a lot of hype built up around Sasuke fighting Gaara in the Chunin Exams, and the match doesn’t disappoint! After arriving in style, Sasuke reveals that he’s managed to increase his speed significantly after training with Kakashi. He also managed to learn the Chidori, the lightning jutsu that becomes Sasuke’s signature move. Although he manages to wound Gaara, the match is interrupted by Konoha being attacked. Although Sasuke pursues Gaara out of the stadium, the Sand ninja’s new form is too powerful for him. Naruto arrives to rescue him, but the fight itself doesn’t need saving.

#10: Sasuke vs. A

Sasuke’s attack on the Kage Summit begins with a bang! The Raikage, A, bulldozes his way to Sasuke after hearing he’s there, hoping to get revenge for his brother, B. The two combatants both use lightning, and so they’re well matched that way. However, the Raikage’s speed and power are incredible. Sasuke manages to increase the power of his Mangekyo Sharingan and begins manifesting the defensive ability, Susanoo, even coating it in flames. A’s determination to kill Sasuke even leads to him sacrificing an arm though! While Gaara’s intervention cuts the fight short, it’s a great fight with growth for Sasuke and a positively beastly opponent.

#9: Team 7 & Obito vs. Kaguya

The final battle, well almost, of the Fourth Great Ninja War sees Team 7 and Obito Uchiha as the last people standing against the revived Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. The progenitor of chakra is a formidable foe for the group, able to use many different jutsus and abilities, as well as move between dimensions. Each member of Team 7 and Obito gets their chance to shine, but in the end it’s Naruto and Sasuke that need to seal Kaguya away. With the fate of the world at stake, they manage to save everyone’s lives. While it has great stakes, and plenty of cool action, this fight isn’t as intense or personal for Sasuke as his best ones are.

#8: Sasuke & Itachi vs. Kabuto

Sasuke and Itachi have quite the tumultuous relationship, but war…and one of them coming back as a zombie, changes things. In order to free the rest of the resurrected ninjas, Itachi takes on Kabuto, who is in control of them all, with Sasuke joining him. It’s a crazy fight, with plenty of illusions, reality warping, and teamwork between the brothers. Although it’s ultimately Itachi who manages to trap Kabuto and secures the release of the revived shinobi, the fight marks the resolution of Sasuke’s relationship with his brother. Seeing the two of them work together and their final goodbye is quite emotional.

#7: Sasuke vs. Danzo

Sasuke’s rampage through the Kage Summit was aimed at one man – Danzo. The Konoha elder was responsible for ordering the Uchiha massacre, and Sasuke holds him responsible for Itachi’s actions in it. This fight sees Sasuke at his most villainous, willing to do anything necessary to kill Danzo - even sacrificing his ally Karin. The battle itself sees bizarre, summoned creatures, illusions, and Danzo’s numerous Izanagi fueled reality rewrites. Ultimately, Danzo sacrifices himself in the hopes of taking Sasuke and Tobi with him. Even so, it’s a notable fight for how dark a place it takes Sasuke.

#6: Taka vs. Killer B

After joining the Akatsuki, Sasuke’s group Taka is tasked with retrieving the Eight Tails from the Jinchuriki, Killer B. The Raikage’s little bro is an eccentric and wildly entertaining character. His unusual swordsmanship matches Sasuke and his team, even overcoming some of them. His transformations are also powerful and force Sasuke to use his Mangekyo Sharingan. B is seemingly captured, but it’s later revealed to be a deception. While that robs Sasuke of a victory, the battle itself still provides a good opportunity to see Sasuke work with his team and against one of the series’ most charming characters.

#5: Sasuke & Naruto vs. Momoshiki

We’re in the endgame now. When Naruto is kidnapped by Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki, Sasuke, Boruto, and the other Kage go to get him back. Sasuke teams up with his rival and friend once more to take Momoshiki down. The ensuing fight is nearly a whole episode long, and features nonstop action! It’s fast-paced, well-animated, features callbacks to previous fights, and has several kaiju forms! Although it lacks some of the build-up or impact that would put it over the top, and Boruto is ultimately the one to take Momoshiki down, on a technical level, it’s borderline flawless!

#4: Sasuke & Naruto vs. Jigen

When Jigen, Isshiki Ōtsutsuki’s host, comes to Naruto’s home, it leads to one hell of a fight! After transporting to another dimension, Jigen faces off against Naruto and Sasuke. Despite the duo being some of the most OP ninjas in history, Jigen still manages to easily overcome their powerful defenses and keep up with them hand-to-hand. Although Sasuke executes some teleportation moves that nearly catch Jigen, the villain eventually manages to capture Naruto and force Sasuke to retreat. Tightly paced, and featuring great animation and action, this battle left an impact for handing a defeat to both Sasuke and Naruto. Sure, the fight doesn’t illustrate them at peak strength, but it’s still enjoyable for what it is.

#3: Sasuke vs. Naruto, Round 1

Naruto doesn’t take Sasuke’s decision to defect to Orochimaru lying down. The orange clad protagonist’s attempt to retrieve Sasuke by force is not only one of Sasuke’s best fights, but arguably the best fight in the original “Naruto” anime. Packed full of emotional moments, brilliant choreography, and plenty of form upgrades and standout moments from both combatants, Sasuke and Naruto’s first major battle delivered on all fronts. It all culminates in the two of them clashing using their signature moves in their strongest (at the time) forms. Sasuke emerges victorious in this encounter, but the fight could easily have gone the other way.

#2: Sasuke vs. Itachi, Round 2

Besides the one he has with Naruto, Sasuke’s relationship with Itachi is arguably his most defining bond. The battle between brothers is built up for years and finally culminates in a fantastic fight. It has a little bit of everything! There’s genjutsu illusions, close combat, and huge ninjutsu attacks! Sasuke and Itachi debut techniques like the Susanoo and Kirin. It also has story revelations that redefine everything we thought we knew about Itachi, and other parts of the series. Itachi’s death is emotional, and Sasuke seemingly narrowly escapes with his life. But, his brother’s backstory completely recontextualizes the fight, which gives it plenty of rewatchability. It’s almost Sasuke’s greatest fight – almost.

#1: Sasuke vs. Naruto, Round 2

The original “Naruto” storyline all leads up to this! Sasuke’s rematch with Naruto is a titanic clash for the ages, as well as an emotional battle of wills between best friends. The duo’s powers are arguably at their height, and each throws everything they have at the other. What begins with huge, landscape reshaping attacks ends with a simple fistfight. Both are positively exhausted by all the battles they’ve had over the last few days, and in the end, they come to a draw after their final clash loses them both an arm. Although Naruto arguably wins, since he manages to persuade Sasuke to become a better person, this is a fight where losing means winning in the long run. It certainly won us over.
