10 AMAZING Lego Fan Games
“Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui”
Top 10 Greatest Dragon Quest Characters
“Bionicle” had so much potential to become Lego’s runaway success with its fantastical world, deep lore, and awesome character designs. Unfortunately, the games that did emerge during its popularity failed to fully capture the spirit of the IP. With today’s technology and talent, however, “Bionicle” can earn a second life. “Quest for Mata Nui” is one of a few “Bionicle” games that show why so many of us loved this franchise. In this action RPG, you’ll explore the various realms in search of the Masks of Power. Utilize your abilities to bring down the Makuta or reach areas that were previously inaccessible. With the project having been in development for seven years, we’re hoping Lego can reach some kind of publishing agreement with the developers, especially since the toy company has shown their support for the project.
“Classic Space Adventure”
10 Classic Video Games You Can Play Within Other Games
Surprisingly, we didn’t get the first Lego video game until 1995 with “Lego Fun to Build” on the SEGA Pico. So, what would a Lego game look like if one had released on, say, an NES or a Game Boy Color? “Classic Space Adventure” offers us a glimpse into that alternate history. You play as a Red Spaceman who falls into an alien city beneath the surface of the moon. Your only way out is to make your way through an abandoned metropolis of evil robots. It's a cute and casual 2D platformer, and it’s one we would like to see get backed by Lego themselves. (Really, this would make for an excellent Switch game with a bit more polish!)
“Lego Town Builder”
The 20 Best Lego Video Games Ever
One genre that Lego shockingly hasn’t touched is the management genre, more specifically, city management. C’mon, how many times have you built our own Lego City? It’s one of the first things everyone thinks about building when given a big bucket of bricks! Though it isn’t feature-rich with a ton of assets, “Lego Town Builder” shows the casual fun that could be had in a simple city management Lego game. Build roads, place down houses, and wander around your own brickified town. We honestly almost lost track of time placing roads and planning out where we’re going to put buildings. And the more you build, the more citizens will spawn! It’s simple fun and an easy pile of cash that Lego is missing out on.
“Rover Racer”
Well, there doesn’t seem to be any sign of a Lego racing game coming in the near future, and for “Lego Racers” fans like us, we need something to scratch that itch. Strangely enough, “Rover Racer” is pretty satisfying to play! We’ll admit that the physics are a bit wonky, and the ambient sounds could have had longer loops. However, there’s something pleasant about building your own Lego space rover and seeing how far you can push it before it busts. Do note that you can bust it somewhat easily, so try to make something sturdy enough to make it to the end!
“Adventurers: The Lost Tomb”
10 Censored Moments In Lego Indiana Jones Video Games
If you’re looking for a puzzle game in a similar vein as “Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker” or maybe “Hitman Go”, well, this is a nice snack of a game. “Adventurers: The Lost Tomb” is a basic puzzle game where you must collect various artifacts before advancing into the next room. Move platforms and avoid death traps to reach the Lost Tomb itself. It's not super hard, but it’s a neat premise to show what a bite-sized Lego puzzle game could look like. Throw in enough levels to last the player a few hours, and it could sell.
“Bionicle: Legend of Mata Nui”
10 Games To Play If You LOVE The Legend of Zelda
Long ago, way back in the olden days of the year 2000, there was a “Bionicle” game that had fans riled up in excitement called “Legend of Mata Nui”. It was an adventure game in the same field as your typical “Zelda” but set in the world of “Bionicle”. Sadly, it was canceled just before its release window was about to hit. Despite being almost complete, a storm of issues rose up at the last minute stemming from financial turmoil and real-world events. However, in 2018, a group of fans collectively known as Litestone Studios managed to come together, grab what few development builds were available online, and proceeded to finish the game. The result was an incredible experience that would have made “Bionicle” an even bigger franchise than it was back then.
“Lego Fallout”
10 Times Lego Games CHANGED The Source Material
Now, Lego has a few rules to licensing its toys out, many of them boiling down to maintaining the family-friendly image of the brand. Is “Fallout” considered family-friendly? Not in a million years with its occasional swearing and splatters of visceral giblets. That doesn’t stop us from wanting a “Lego Fallout”, though, and we got one!...sort of. Escape the Vault and venture out into a [small] world based on the “Fallout” franchise. We’ll be honest - it is a bit buggy and is missing some key features like VATS. Regardless, what is here is still very impressive, and we’d love to see this project come to fruition with its own story, characters, and a more expansive world if possible.
“The Resurrection of Imagination”
The BEST Boss From Every LEGO Video Game
For you survival fans, this is one fan game definitely worth keeping an eye on. “The Resurrection of Imagination” is aiming to properly bring the Lego IP into the world of survival games. The world of imagination is in peril, and it is up to you to reclaim the Tower of Creativity. Not much is known about the game outside of a few clips and Reddit posts, but the updates provided by solo developer Merlinizer make it seem like we’ll be talking about this game a few years from now.
“Project Island”
Ex Telltale Devs Are Making a Secret Project
Along with “Bionicle”, “Lego Island” is another classic Lego IP that could have really been something. Alas, the failures of “Brickster’s Revenge” and “Xtreme Stunts” kinda killed the franchise. Luckily, there is a small team working on a brand new “Lego Island” game, one that will fully realize the spirit and adventure of the original games thanks to the capabilities of modern hardware. From its textures and physics to its lighting and animation, “Project Island” truly looks like it's being made by a AAA studio, and it seems as though it could show new audiences the potential this once popular IP had back in the day.
“Bionicle: Masks of Power”
Yes, yes, we know we’ve talked about a lot of “Bionicle” stuff in this video, but trust us when we say this franchise shows promise. “Bionicle: Masks of Power” is exactly what we’re talking about here (on top of the other two games we mentioned earlier). Full voice acting, open world mission and narrative structure, fluid combat, all built on Unreal Engine 5! Lego has also voiced their full support of the project, even going so far as to allow the developers to release it on Steam. No release date has been given yet, but you better believe we will be there on Launch Day!
